I Want to Start Therapy— Now What?
Okay, great!
We know that simply deciding to start therapy can be an overwhelming process. Whether you are navigating a difficult season, ready to examine old patterns, or need an outside perspective— therapy can be a helpful avenue for a variety of struggles.
Here is what to expect if you would like to start services with CTS.
Step One: Reach Out
You can call (970) 901-5271, email us at info@collaborativetraumasolutions.com, or simply fill out the form on our contact page which you can access via the button below.
Once you have established you are interested in starting therapy, our administrative assistant will reach out to you with possible times to complete an intake.
Step Two: Complete Your Intake
What to expect from an intake:
Providing basic demographic information
Answering questions about why you are seeking therapeutic services
Some brief historical information
Confirming insurance coverage and payment options
Completing intake paperwork which includes:
Consent for treatment
HIPAA notice of privacy practices
Details about your rights as client
Disclosure statement that we are a group practice and participate in ongoing supervision
Telehealth agreements
Release of information forms
Some of this can be completed online through the portal of our electronic medical record system called Reliatrax. To complete this way, you would create an account with your own login information to access the files.
Please note: you do not have to disclose everything about yourself in this session or all of the details of what you have experienced. This session is for you to be able to share enough so that we are able to match you with a provider who is best able to meet your needs.
If you are engaging in services for a minor, the caregiver will be asked to participate in the intake session.
Step Three: Therapist Match
Once the intake is completed, the staff member who completed the intake will place you on our waitlist. Wait time varies depending on your availability, acuity, and provider availability. At the time of this writing, the average wait time is approximately 2-4 weeks.
The relationship between therapist and client is an important part of the therapeutic process. Because of this, we do our best to match you with a provider based on your needs, potential personality fit, helpful treatment approaches, and therapist experience. Worth mentioning: our interns are graduate level clinicians who receive ongoing weekly supervision as well as their masters level training.
We also offer various groups, workshops, and retreats that might be helpful if you aren’t quite ready for ongoing therapy or are interested in learning more about yourself, relationship dynamics, or parenting.
Step Four: Meet Your Provider
A provider will reach out to you for scheduling. If you find a time to work together, your provider will schedule you and will give you instructions of where to meet them, how to get in touch with them, and answer any questions you might have about this process.
If you are a virtual client, your provider will send you a HIPAA compliant Google Meet link and will instruct you how to join their sessions.
Step Five: Begin Your Therapy Goals
In the first sessions, your provider will spend time getting to understand what you are hoping to gain out of therapy and together you will develop goals and a treatment plan for your work together.
If you have questions about this process, please feel free to talk to your provider directly if you have already started services or contact us with any questions.
