Internships
At Collaborative Trauma Solutions, we believe in not only continuing education, but also strengthening education through experience. Because of this, we offer internships for master’s level students in the mental health field. We host both more advanced and practicum level students from a variety of academic backgrounds.
What to expect:
All Internship and Practicum students receive weekly individual supervision.
Students also benefit from weekly group consultations with the CTS and CRT teams with ongoing trainings.
All students will begin their placement by participating in a 2-3 day orientation process with a cohort of their peers. This process educates students on the CTS electronic medical records system as well as our other policies, workflows, and operating procedures.
Leadership will guide new interns and practicum students through all steps of integrating into CTS including: office tours, onboarding, scheduling, group information, and variety of other topics in how manage working as an independent mental health professional.
All students will also have the ability to shadow more experienced therapists and to participate and shadow groups.
Students have many opportunities for supervision and consultation. In addition to weekly individual supervision, interns will participate in ongoing weekly supervision and trainings with entire CTS team, will have intern only meetings for the first 4 weeks of internship, and an additional open weekly meeting to address any questions with our electronic medical record system.
Students will be able to have autonomy over their own schedules.
Practicum
Practicum students will be assigned a therapeutic mentor at CTS. This mentor will be your primary source of shadowing, however, there will be opportunities available to shadow other therapists who may have a different style or a different specialty.
The mentor will work closely with the practicum student to teach them to complete administrative tasks, contact clients, and develop a sense of how different modalities are used in session and complete case management.
Advanced or 2nd Year Internship
Internship students will be asked to have at least 10 direct client hours per week.
Interns will be expected to work with a variety of clients, including all ages and genders.
Students will be able to pick available clients based on level of acuity system. The supervisors will assist interns in working with clients based on their skill and comfort level as they progress in their internship.
Interns will also be expected to provide the entire team a small training (approx. 15 minutes) on the topic of their choice at a time to be determined at some point during their internship.
Internship is paid.
What Past Interns Have Said:
“My internship experience at CTS exceed my expectations. I received an incredible amount of support, extra supervision when needed, and was able to create a schedule that worked for me. I most appreciated how easy it was to build relationships with other therapists whose wisdom and consultation allowed me to feel more competent with my clients. I highly recommend this group of professionals and am excited for any intern joining the team.”
“My second-year internship as a Master of Social Work student at Collaborative Trauma Solutions has been an incredibly transformative experience. The supportive supervision, hands-on clinical work, and commitment to culturally responsive care have deepened my skills and confidence as a therapist-in-training. I've had the opportunity to work with diverse clients, apply evidence-based interventions, and collaborate with an inspiring team of professionals. This internship has not only prepared me for my future career but has also reinforced my passion for making a meaningful impact in the field of mental health. I am truly grateful for this experience!”
